Sustainability

Sustainability sits at the core of our proposals, and we are committed to creating a highly sustainable, net-zero in operational carbon, building for the future.

In line with Westminster City Council’s retrofit first expectations and our commitments as a business, we are committed to retaining as much of the existing structure and facades as possible. We will also be using low carbon materials wherever possible through our interventions and new
build elements, contributing to the circular economy.

We are aiming for the highest BREEAM and Nabers ratings and we want our approach to be a template for repurposing and retrofitting, as we seek to retain between 45% and 50% of the existing structure. Through careful and sensitive intervention, and the use of new technologies, we therefore believe that can achieve a result that will be subtle but far-reaching.

These include:

  • Balancing whole-life carbon (embodied and operational)
  • Optimised retention with Circular Economy approach
  • Introducing and improving biodiversity
  • Improving well-being
  • Respecting the site heritage and maximise place-making potential
  • Designing for longevity
